Treatment Descriptions

A technique utilizing fine sterile, single-use, disposable surgical grade steel needles inserted at specific points in the body to achieve therapeutic effect and restore its natural balance state and help to correct various ailments. Where a needle is inserted into the acupuncture point it has an effect of vasodilating the blood vessels in the area so the body can push more blood into that area to help with what’s being treated.

Another technique utilized to help the healing process using body image mapping onto the extremities, locating specific points along the distal region corresponding to the area being treated to help resolve and aid with these different issues within the whole system. There are several methods and styles of distal needling and one or more may be used in your treatment.

In addition to an Acupuncture treatment, this treatment is used for certain conditions whereby selected needles are connected to an electro-stimulator and a mild electric pulse is generated to these points to increase point stimulation.

Also known as collagen induction treatment, this method is used to prevent and correct the signs of aging, mostly on the face, but can and is used for other parts of the body. A treatment done independently, or in conjunction with an Acupuncture treatment, using the ear as a reflection of the body and specific points in the ear to help with treatment. Small seeds from the Vaccaria plant or small sterile hypo-allergenic metal ‘seeds’ are placed over specific points on the ear, and held in place on the ear with a small piece of adhesive tape. These seeds are left in the ear for a few days and can be stimulated, by the Patient to continue the effects of the treatments being given until the following visit.

This treatment involves the use of intravenous, intra-muscular and intra-dermal injection of nutrients including amino acids, vitamins, minerals and sterile biological homeopathic injectable substances. The compounds used are for the most part preservative free to help minimize side-effects, and optimum care is taken in making sure the treatment is well-suited for you. Acu-injections is also a form of treatment to aid in relieving pain and as well as other issues by injecting natural and nourishing nutrients into specific sites being treated to help the body to heal. Moxibustion treatment or Moxa, as its generally referred to is the application of indirect or direct heat by burning Artemesiae vulgaris (commonly known as Mugwort), over acupuncture points as an alternative or addition to stimulate meridian circulation. Indirect moxibustion treatment involve placing Moxa on the head of the needle, on top of a barrier such as salt, a slice of ginger, Fu Zi (a Chinese warming herb) or crushed garlic, or the use of a Moxa stick, hovering over the points or area being treated. When direct Moxa is used, the Moxa is placed directly on the skin. Between treatments Moxa packs can also be used.

Made popular by many Olympic athletics sporting the red or purple cup marks on their bodies. Cupping refers to an ancient Chinese practice which involves the application of round suction cups (made of glass, plastic, or silicone) to the skin so that the skin and superficial muscle layer to enhance blood circulation to the area. In some cases, the cup may be moved while the suction of skin is active, causing a regional pulling of the skin and muscle. This style of treatment gives the tissue a deep, quick massage breaking down adhesions, and thus helps facilitate blood circulation.

Gua-Sha is best described as a “scraping technique” using a comb-like instrument, where friction is applied to areas of skin to enhance the dermal circulation.

There are many different forms of manual therapies that form under the umbrella of Massage. Tui’na is a form of physical manipulation where pressure or different techniques are applied to points or areas on the body. Acupressure also uses similar methods of applying pressure or techniques to points or areas on the body to help relieve different ailments affecting the body. Ayurvedic massage uses various techniques and styles in giving a massage. In an Ayurvedic massage, the use of long, deep strokes and covering the whole body, application of oils or prepared oils with different healing properties to get them into the body, and in some cases steam or other forms of heat is used to help the body absorb the healing properties and remove toxins.
